Senior Counsellor – Family Violence

Are you passionate about creating safer communities and supporting individuals to break the cycle of family violence? We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Senior Counsellor to join our Family Violence team and deliver therapeutic interventions that promote accountability, healing, and long-term change.About the Role
As a Senior Counsellor in our Family Violence team, you will:- Deliver trauma-informed, person-centred counselling to individuals who use violence in intimate and family relationships.
- Conduct psychosocial assessments and develop therapeutic plans that support behaviour change and accountability.
- Facilitate individual and group-based therapeutic interventions, including psychoeducation and relapse prevention.
- Apply the MARAM Framework to assess risk and contribute to collaborative safety planning.
- Work closely with multidisciplinary teams and Family Safety Contact Workers to ensure the safety and wellbeing of victim survivors and children.
- Participate in after-hours service delivery as part of a rotating roster to enhance accessibility.
Position Details
- Fixed term position until 30 June 2028
- 0.6 FTE working 45 hours per week
- $110,379
p/a + Super + Salary Packaging
What We’re Looking For
We value professionals who bring empathy, expertise, and a commitment to social justice. To succeed in this role, you will have:- A relevant degree or postgraduate qualification in Counselling, Social Work, Psychology, Criminology, or a related discipline.
- Eligibility under the Mandatory Minimum Qualifications for Family Violence Practitioners.
- A strong understanding of the gendered nature of family violence and its impact on victim survivors.
- Experience delivering evidence-based psychological interventions for complex presentations.
- Excellent interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills, including the ability to provide secondary consultation and mentoring.
