Safeguarding Incident Officer
As a Safeguarding Incident Officer at Meli, you will play an integral role in supporting consistent, high-quality incident management practices across the organisation. Positioned at the centre of safeguarding operations, you will help ensure incidents are accurately recorded, appropriately triaged, and managed in line with legislative and organisational requirements. Working closely with programs and leaders, you’ll provide practical guidance, support system use, and contribute to strong oversight through effective data management and reporting. Your work will help strengthen safeguarding capability, support informed decision-making, and drive continuous improvement across Meli’s services.
As a Safeguarding Incident Officer, you will:
- Coordinate the day-to-day review, triage, and management of incidents, ensuring accurate, timely, and compliant reporting in line with legislative and organisational requirements
- Provide guidance and support to staff on incident reporting processes, documentation standards, system use, and escalation pathways
- Maintain and support Meli’s incident management system, ensuring data integrity, workflow efficiency, and consistent organisational use
- Analyse incident data, contribute to reporting and governance processes, and support continuous improvement initiatives to strengthen safeguarding practices
Position Details
- Full time, Fixed term position until 05 February 2027
- 1 FTE working 38 hours per week
- $101,032 p/a + Super + Salary Packaging
What We’re Looking For
We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:
- Relevant qualification in community services, safeguarding, quality, risk management, governance, business administration, or a related field, or demonstrated equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience in incident management, safeguarding, quality, risk, complaints, compliance, or a related organisational governance function within a complex service environment.
- Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative and judgement when reviewing information, identifying gaps, assessing risk, determining follow-up actions, and supporting consistent decision-making.
- Experience using, administering, or improving incident management, risk, quality, or case management systems, including data quality, reporting, user support, and system guidance.
- Strong analytical skills, including the ability to interpret incident data, identify trends and systemic issues, and prepare clear reports, summaries, and recommendations.
- Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills, including the ability to provide specialist advice, guidance, training, and support to staff and managers regarding incident management and reporting requirements.
