Policy Assistant

As a Policy Assistant at Meli, you’ll play an important role in supporting the development, implementation, and maintenance of policies and systems that guide how we deliver safe, consistent, and high-quality services to the community.

Working closely with the Quality and Risk team, you will gain practical experience across policy administration, audit preparation, research, and process improvement while developing highly transferable skills in writing, analysis, and organisational systems. This role is ideal for a detail-oriented and curious individual who enjoys working behind the scenes to ensure systems run effectively and is interested in building a future career in policy, quality, governance, or the community services sector.

 

As a Policy Assistant, you will:

  • Support the administration, review, and implementation of organisational policies, procedures, and resources
  • Assist with quality and continuous improvement activities, including audit preparation and maintaining registers
  • Contribute to developing guidance materials, templates, and process documentation to support consistent practice
  • Undertake research, data collation, and provide administrative support across governance and quality project

 

Position Details

  • Part time, Fixed term position until 18 December 2026
  • 0.2 FTE working 7.6 hours per week
  • $76,550 p/a (pro-rata) + Super + Salary Packaging

 

What We’re Looking For

We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:

  • Qualification in business administration, public policy, community services, project administration, or a related field, or currently working towards such qualification is desirable.
  • Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly in Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Teams.
  • Strong written communication skills, including preparing clear and accurate documents.
  • Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to undertake research, collate information, and maintain accurate records.
