Launch Pad Housing Coach
Make a real impact in the lives of young people transitioning from care into independence. As a Launch Pad Housing Coach within Meli’s Better Futures Barwon team, you will provide hands‑on, trauma‑informed support that empowers young people to build confidence, stability, and the life skills they need to thrive. This is a frontline role where strong relationships, strengths-based practice, and genuine belief in the potential of young people are at the heart of everything you do.
About the Role
As a Launch Pad Housing Coach, you will:
- Provide high‑quality, trauma‑informed case management and build strong, trusting relationships with young people transitioning from care into supported housing.
- Facilitate “The Deal” with each young person, co‑creating expectations and goals, and regularly reviewing progress together.
- Assess and strengthen independent living skills through practical, hands‑on support in areas such as budgeting, cooking, time management, and navigating services.
- Partner with housing providers and support young people to maintain stable tenancies while planning for long‑term housing, education, employment, and wellbeing pathways.
Position Details
- Part time, Fixed term position until 31 October 2026
- 0.6 FTE working 22.8 hours per week
- $101,032 (pro-rata) p/a + Super + Salary Packaging

What We're Looking For
We value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles. To succeed in this position, you will have:- Relevant tertiary qualification in Social Work, Welfare/Youth Work or associated discipline or relevant experience working in this space.
- Relevant experience working with vulnerable individuals and families.
- An understanding of the Children, Youth and Families Act (2005), and other relevant legislation.
- A sound understanding of issues confronting young people leaving the statutory care environment.
- Proven ability to engage and case-manage young people at risk and young people exhibiting challenging behaviours.
- An understanding of the impact of trauma on young people and the ability to work from a trauma informed approach, to effectively and constructively work alongside the young people, including statutory clients and those with challenging behaviours.
- Understanding of the purpose and expectations of the Victorian Child Safe Standards and demonstrated commitment to contributing to a child safe organisation in both practice and culture.
