Community Educator & Venue Support Worker
Are you an experienced trainer who wants to use your skills to create real community impact?
Join Meli’s Gambler’s Help team and play a key role in reducing gambling-related harm across the Barwon and South West regions.
This position combines training delivery, community education, and venue engagement, with a strong focus on prevention and early intervention. You will work directly with gaming venues, local services, and community groups to build awareness, strengthen responses to gambling harm, and connect people to support when they need it most.
As a Community Educator / Venue Support
Worker, you will:
- Design, deliver and evaluate community education and health promotion initiatives that increase awareness of gambling harm and support early help‑seeking.
- Build and sustain effective partnerships with community organisations, local government, health services and priority populations across the region.
- Deliver Responsible Service of Gambling (RSG) and other mandated training, equipping venue staff with the skills to recognise, respond to and prevent gambling‑related harm.
- Work in partnership with gaming venues to strengthen responsible gambling practices, support patrons experiencing harm, and improve pathways into Gambler’s Help services.
Position Details
- Part time, Fixed term position until 27 July 2027
- 0.8 FTE working 30.4 hours per week
- $101,032 p/a (pro-rata) + Super + Salary Packaging
What We’re Looking For
We
value individuals who bring dedication, empathy, and expertise to their roles.
To succeed in this position, you will have:
- Certificate IV in Training and Assessment TAE40116.
- A tertiary qualification in Community Development/ Education, Health Promotion, Social Work, Psychology or diploma level.
- Demonstrated experience and/or knowledge in health promotion, community development or community services.
- Experience in the delivery of adult training and presentations.
- An understanding of the signs, impacts, and dynamics of gambling harm.
- Experience working with a range of stakeholders and community groups to develop effective collaborative partnerships.
- Broad understanding of the hospitality industry, gaming industry and the operation of venues.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, and the ability to work independently.
